An innovator… A leader… An engineer… A consultant… A friend…
It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the loss of Richard “Dick” Charles Byce Jr, founder of the company that bears his name. An excellent engineer, mentor, and truly a wonderful man of the highest character will be missed, and his loss leaves an indelible hole in our hearts.
In 1959, Dick established R.C. Byce & Associates, Inc. (currently Byce & Associates, Inc.) and took the helm as President / CEO, until his retirement in 1997. He spent years building a company founded in structural engineering to a full service, professional engineering and architectural firm. Dick continued to work tirelessly in the engineering field and within the community throughout his life. It’s because of his leadership and his passion for the built environment that we as a firm continue to believe in quality of work, providing innovative practical solutions, cultivating long lasting relationships, and being a solid example of what being good, honest, and forthright can offer you, your business, and your clients.
Even upon retirement, Dick’s passion and dedication kept him around the office consulting on many projects into the start of the 21st Century. Many of you did not have the benefit of knowing and/or working with Dick, but those who have, consider themselves to be incredibly lucky. We will continue to honor his memory and keep his spirit alive in the company he started, the legacy he created, and the desire to do good work and make a difference in what we engineer and design.
Dick’s obituary can be found here.
