Lobby Renovations

Design Program:

With the arrival of previously new Head Football Coach P.J. Fleck, Western Michigan University and the new Head Coach sought to upgrade the Lobby of the Bill Brown Alumni Center. The renovations and upgrades were intended to not only improve the facilities and how they function but also to strengthen and enhance the Bronco brand.

The Lobby was characterized as a light filled, multi-storied reception and circulation area already fitted and equipped with Bronco Football branded features such as bronco history, donor recognition walls, plaques, jerseys, trophies, and memorabilia. The Lobby was renovated and updated following the branding and graphics design package that builds upon and reinforces the existing experience by selective removal, storing and placing of the millwork, plaques and displays for re-use and re-integration into the overall finished project. A new interactive Media Display served as the new focal point supported by four new millwork lockers, lit trophy and display cases, kiosks with a Bronco Mannequin and historical memorabilia displays, along with the new “Row the Boat” display.

The scope of work included selective demolition of existing fit out items, finishes and equipment as well as the temporary protection, patching, repairing and replacement of the adjacent materials. The existing ambient as well as external and internal display lighting was provided to enhance the overall graphics branding experience of the new design.
