Design Program:

Shakespeare’s Pub, named for the historical building in which it resides, was designed to house a sports bar where people could gather and enjoy a unique variety of beers on tap, play on pool tables and enjoy a comfortable outside seating area. The building is on a Brownfield site located in the historical East End District of Central City. Byce & Associates, Inc. was responsible for the design of the renovations for the Pub which included adding an elevator, adding a mechanical room, the closure of floor openings, HVAC units and electrical design of the common areas and the newly installed main electrical panel. The outside of the building and common areas of the building interior reflect the art deco period in which this building originated.

Design Challenges:

Because the design of the restaurant was very open and spacious, the design of the ventilation system was critical as high occupancy loads were anticipated. The design of the kitchen area included the addition of exhaust hoods and providing the required make up air.
